Arranging Your Stay

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor have two Houses that provide a supportive home away from home for families of children 21 years of age and younger receiving treatment at a Washtenaw County health facility.

Each House offers bedrooms with a private bathroom, and close proximity to the hospital so that family members can relax and take care of themselves knowing their child is just minutes away.  Comfortable living room areas offer the opportunity for sharing with other families going through similar experiences.

The Mott House, located on the 10th floor of C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital, offers parents a quiet haven to rest, just steps from their child’s bedside.  The 12 bedrooms are available for a short- term stay for adult caregivers of patients being treated in one of the intensive care units.

Accommodations include:

Bedrooms with one twin bed and a sleep chair, for 1-2 adults
Kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, and coffee/tea maker
Snacks and ready-to-heat food
Hospital meal tray delivery
Shared living room and dining area
Free laundry facilities
Toiletries, hair dryers and irons
Wireless internet access

Things to know:

Guests are referred by their hospital social worker for a short stay during their child’s most critical time.  Additional nights are determined according to overall needs and room availability.
To maintain the peaceful environment, the use of the Mott House and its amenities are available for registered guests only.  Guests can visit with other family members and friends in the nearby community areas of the hospital.

The Ronald McDonald House managers and hospital social workers work closely together to meet the unique needs of each family.  Please contact your child’s hospital social worker to be considered for accommodations at either of our Houses.  If you do not have a social worker, please call the Main Ronald McDonald House at 734-994-4442, and we can help direct you.

You can check in or check out anytime between 9 a.m.-- 8 p.m. seven days a week.

The Ronald McDonald Houses are made possible through the generous donations of individuals and corporations.  This enables there to be no charge for your stay.  If families wish to contribute, a $10 per night donation is suggested.

The Ann Arbor Main House, located just a short walk from Mott Children’s Hospital.  The 29 bedrooms are available to families who live a distance from Ann Arbor, for as long as their child is receiving treatment.

Things to know:

The Main House is frequently full, and operates entirely on a wait list basis.  What this means is that once a family is offered a room, it is available to them for the duration of the child's treatment.
Families are offered a room based on availability. Your social worker will be contacted when there is a room available to offer you.  We will do our best to accommodate you, however, we are not able to guarantee a room for everyone on the wait list. Alternate accommodations are available through the University of Michigan Patient and Visitor Accommodations Dept.  800-544-8684
