FAQs
What if the patient has to travel beyond the 1,000-mile limit for treatment?
Our National Patient Travel Center Helpline is operational 24/7 to refer callers to other resources, such as Mercy Medical Airlift, which helps coordinate discount tickets for air transportation for children and adults, or American Airlines' "Miles for Kids in Need" program.

What about inclement weather?
Angel Flight pilots are instrument rated, which means they can fly safely in variable weather conditions, except for high winds, ice, storms and other extremes.

Who is eligible for Angel Flight?
Anyone who needs medical care at a distant location and cannot afford air transportation.

Does the patient pay any fees for Angel Flight service?
No. There is no charge for the flight. The pilot pays all costs involved and donates his or her time and aircraft.
